Grants for Visiting Scholars from Ukraine – The Call is now open
The Medical Faculty offers a set of measures and recommendations to help those affected.
One of the strategic missions from the Medical Faculty at the University of Bern is to promote the next generation of Medical and Biomedical Researchers. This funding scheme will support researchers that aim to apply for an ERC Starting Grant 2023 or SNSF Starting Grant 2023 to start their own independent research group at the Medical Faculty.
A total of four selected candidates of the «Talent4Bern» Program will profit from support in the preparation of the grant proposal and additional core funding as well as coaching and mentoring opportunities during the fellowship duration.

This fund is intended to support particularly talented students with high potential who have already achieved a certain scientific output and are enrolled in the 3rd or 4th year at a Graduate School of the University of Bern. The salary of doctoral students can be financed from this fund for a maximum of 6 months. The call for applications is open now, applications can be submitted continuously and without a deadline.

In its "Strategy 2021" the University definded the goal that its research activity is to be distinguished by a strong interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary character and by collaboration in national and international research associations. In order to promote interdisciplinary research the Executive Board of the University announces the seventh call for Interdisciplinary grants at the University of Bern ("UniBE ID Grants"). The Swiss Personalized Health Network has launched a call for «Demonstrator projects». These projects aim to demonstrate the added value of SPHN data resources and infrastructure elements for data-driven personalized health research, clinical and public health research, and clinical use. The new submission deadline for the second call in 2022 for SNSF Sinergia applications is 02 Nov 2022 at 17:00 Swiss local time. SNSF Sinergia promotes the interdisciplinary collaboration of two to four research groups. More information
With the announcement of grants for "Protected Research Time", the Medical Faculty supports the possibility of creating clinical research time for young academics in the medical service sector.
The Dean's Office of the Medical Faculty and the Department of Teaching and Research of Insel Gruppe AG jointly offer Young Investigator Grants. These are aimed at young assistand and senior physicians who pursue ambitions in research in addition to their clinical activities, as well as PhD students of the Graduate School for Health Science (GHS) in the Clinical Sciences Program. "Protected research time" provides the opportunity to create clinical research time for junior academic staff in the medical services area.
The two grants have different orientations. The Dean's Office call is for individuals with translational research projects. The call from the Department of Teaching and Research is for physicians from Insel Gruppe AG with a patient-oriented research project.

he application can be submitted annually to the Strategy and Promotion Commission until April 30. The next call is open until 30 April 2023.
Membership begins on August 1 (fall semester).

The Alumni MedBern association supports projects within the Faculty of Medicine that serve teaching, research or public relations.
