The Department of Cardiology is a leading center for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. In addition to the medical services, the Department is engaged in education, training, and research. From translational to clinical research, projects and studies are carried out across the entire spectrum of cardiology.

Profile

  • Teaching at multiple levels: clinical specialty training, undergraduate and graduate students, supervision of MD, Master and PhD students
  • Continuous medical education program (Fokus Herz Bern)
  • Broad range of clinical research activities, encompassing investigations of devices and pharmacological therapies for the treatment of coronary artery disease, thromboembolic disease, valvular heart disease, heart rhythm disorders, and heart failure. Research in cardiac multimodality imaging methods including CT, MRI, and echocardiography
  • Translational research (cardiac electrophysiology, arterial hypertension)
