Dean's Office

The Dean's Office is the management office of the Faculty and acts as a central hub for communication, management, and administration between the Faculty, University, lecturers, students, and other bodies.

The tasks of the Dean's Office are divided into the following areas:

The Dean heads the Faculty and represents it in external dealings. He chairs the Faculty Council, the Faculty Executive Board, and various committees. He is a member of the Executive Board of the Insel Gruppe AG and forms the interface between the Faculty and the Executive Board of the University of Bern.

The Dean of Education is responsible for teaching affairs within the Faculty. He leads the implementation of the Faculty's strategic goals in the area of education and has academic responsibility for the Dean's Office of Student Affairs.

The Head of the Dean's Office is the Executive Director of the Dean's Office and is responsible for the strategic work and management of the Dean's Office strategy. He prepares and carries out faculty business in accordance with the rules of procedure, the faculty regulations and the university guidelines. He plans the financial and personnel resources and their use in accordance with university and faculty regulations and carries out the accompanying controlling.

Die Mitarbeitenden des Studiendekanats sind zuständig für die Organisation des Studiums Humanmedizin und für die Belange der Studierenden. Das Studiendekanat ist Schnittstelle zu den Kliniken, Instituten, Dozierenden, Studierenden und dem Immatrikulationsdienst. Wichtigste Aufgaben des Studiendekanats sind die Planung, Organisation und Koordination des Medizinstudiums, die Mitarbeit bei der Qualitätssicherung des Curriculums und die Betreuung und Beratung der Studierenden.

Successions belong to one of the University's central processes, as professors significantly shape the development of teaching and research as well as university structures and relationships for a long period of time. In collaboration with the respective Structure and Election Committees, the employees of the department Succession Professorships are responsible for the strategic and operational handling of Faculty successions as well as the management of the succession process.
