Dean's Office

The Dean's Office is the business office of the faculty and performs a hub function regarding communication, management and administration between the faculty, the University, the lecturers and students as well as with further bodies.

The duties of the Dean's office can be categorized into the following areas:

Dean

The Dean heads up the faculty and represents it in dealings with third parties. She/he is the chairperson of the faculty council, the faculty management and of different committees. Furthermore, she/he represents the interface between the faculty and the University management and is a member of the management board of the Inselspital (University hospital).

Head of the Dean's Office

The Head of the Dean's Office is the executive director of the Dean's Office and is responsible for the strategic work and management of the strategy of the Dean's Office. She/he prepares and executes faculty business in accordance with the bylaws, faculty regulations, and university policies. She/he plans financial and human resources and their use according to university and faculty regulations and accompanying controlling.

General Secretariat

The employees of the General Secretariat ensure the operation around the meetings of the Faculty Management and the Faculty Board as well as the associated processes and concerns. This includes in particular professorships and appointments (successions), habilitations, dissertations, communication, equality and internationalization.

Dean's Office Administration Teaching and Research

The employees of the Dean's Office Administration ensure the management and administration of the various concerns of the Faculty of Medicine. This includes, in particular, IT, finance and controlling, quality assurance and evaluations.

Dean’s Office of student’s affairs

The employees of the Dean’s Office of student’s affairs are responsible for the organization of the studies in human medicine and for addressing students’ concerns.
